Tarboy

"has anyone said anything bad about this?"

submission: Tarboy
date: August 31, 2009

As a critict, your job is easy. The author pukes his heart and soul into a short film so that we may whine and complain about what we just saw. Normally I enjoy doing that but this...I can't believe I'm having this hard of a time writing a review. Let me say one thing before I marry this piece of utter...Utterness. The janitor's screwed up eye was on the wrong side of his face and the only time it matched up is when grandpa tells of Tarboy's demise. This is just nitpicking of course as everything else was perfect. From the opening preloader to the very very end I was amazed by each keyframe. Even the credits and extras i watched including the entire animatic. I could see that it evolved the further it went. The voices, the artwork, the music, even the animation was stuffed with more love than a diabetic on Thanksgiving. I really can't say eough good things about this. Congrats and good luck on your future endevors.

I suppose the laws of momentum don't carry over into space. Whenever you jump from one planet moon thing to another, you completly stop. Even if you were going 90 miles per hour on the last moon planet thing you stepped on. It could have flowed a lot smoother if this wasn't the case. And what's with the trophies? Why not just make metals? It makes the game that much more enjoyable.

Alice!! in Wndrlnd? -1st-

"Unpolished."

date: June 19, 2009

The animation was amazing. What was the FPS? 40+? And for any animation, espically FBF, looks fantastic. The art was also great even if it was a bit difficult to figure out what you were looking at due to many microscopic close-ups. The music was nice but cut off out of nowhere. I see why it went silent when she was saving the rabbit but fade it out first, then have some sort of ambiet sound. Same for every other time it was silent. Have clothes flapping and wind when she falls. if you could fix the sound issues, make the story go slower and music flow together better you'll get a top spot in the all time flash. Good luck. I really look foward to the next one.

Doom Triple Pack

Let me just say that you have probably started a flood of '90s games that will be entered into NG. I'm not sure how much effort this took but considering you didn't create scripts or draw anything but I have to say you did a nice job converting. Medals are allways a nice add annyway. As for the auctual games however, their all the same! Some monsters are differ little and it just boils down to running and shooting these demons from hell. Oh, and their ALL DEMONS FROM HELL. But there is another aspect to the game that is my favorite. You don't follow a linear path. Instead your given room to explore to find some nice weapons, secret items, hidden areas full of goodies, and a false wall that opens to a room packed with monsters. But you are a pioneer here so I pat you on the back for thinking of this. Now you just need to make some other classics...Duke Nukem 3D, anyone?

Koden X Prologue Part 1

"Give yourself a pat on the back."

date: April 26, 2009

First off I would just like to congratulate you on the wonderfull flash. This is truely somthing to be proud of and many animators, artists, and writers could only dream of putting a project of the magnitude in their resime. And so the criticisms begin...The first thing that crossed my mind when thinking of this review is that it was far too anime-ish for my tastes. The white hair, the increadably buff guy with an "x" on his chest (he might want to get that checked out, it looks infected) the woman finding him in the middle of a FUCKING DESERT. Still, it was very nice art. But the animation went up and down on my "omigod people move that way" scale. You just got lazy on the lip-synicing and the walking cycles at times looked almost robotic. The voice acting was at times very good and other times could be compared with "All your base are belonging to us." (do you see a pattern devloping here?) It was bareable at those moments and I still kept watching so mission accomplished on that part. Overall, I enjoyed it. Everything else was fantabulous. The camera angles, the music, the landscapes, the whole idea, all of the extraas, a very small sneak peak into the future episodes, ect. So I do look foward to the rest. And with a prologue this long I'm sure we're in for a ride. You did say in the concept art that it began in what, 2004? Better pick up the pace. You have some fans now. I'm sure you can get an advertisement deal of some sort though. Anyways, good luck, God bless, and maybe you can hold us over with some short animations in the mean time, eh?

Author's Response:

Actually to clear up some confusion, we've been working on the concept, story, and world that Koden X resides in since 2004. This episode was made in approximately 200 hours. :) God bless!

"1 button button masher"

submission: stickBRAWLER
date: March 5, 2009

Now, I admit, this game is flashy, smooth, and just has a nice feel to it. With that being said this was also waaaaaaaaaaaaay to simple. All you have to do is sit there while tapping "A" over and over and over untill the green stick guy is dead or blob thing. And maybe even run around so the fire balls don't hit you but you don't really have to worry about that since every blob you kill has a healthpack inside of it. Now I admit that I had a good time with this for about 2 minutes but then my hand decided to stop mashing A. I suppose that's what you get with a game under 2 MB and is a well drawn and animated button masher.

Author's Response:

I try to make my games as simple as possible, for a more user-friendly crowd. You understand. Lol

The Last Fight

"Same complaint as everyone else."

submission: The Last Fight
date: January 15, 2009

Like most, I was expecting a fight. Each basic movement had about 3 frames and had more uninteresting story than anything. Very cliche and whatnot. What I really enjoyed was the lighting and atmosphere. Work a little harder on the animation and you'll have yourself a front pager.

Hitstick

"Not Hitman."

submission: Hitstick
date: January 14, 2009

I fail to see how this is hitman. Hitman is stealthy, kills people with piano wire, and is insanely hard, even on easy. But this is more of an old school arcade shooter which is ok so long as you understand that. Now if this was pixelated, and had all of those sound effects and crazy people shooting at you, I would have given this a 10. But you decided to go with the cardboard animated pop up A.I. where 7 guys just died and shoot him once before he shoots you method. I'm a fan of yours usually but this makes me weep. Hope the next is better.

"A lot of potential."

submission: TheHeist
date: October 4, 2008

Sure going on that same highway over and over again with different side road envirements got boring after a while but over this game has a lot of potential. This is about getting away from the cops. Though, almost every time, I won with the cops right behind me. Along with this, If a helicopter is hovering over you at 80 miles an hour on a clear highway, I doubt you could get away. Thus, it would have been nice to take a turn every once and a while. Oh, and roadblocks. Roadblocks would have been nice. And the one thing that drove me crazier than almost anything else are the car physics. Not the player's car but when you hit a car you feel like Jesus playing with a rubber yo-yo. Another add on that would have been nice are cars taking damage. Start on fire, blow up, you know. But overall, good arcade fun for 15 minutes.

Sniper Assassin 2

"Below par"

submission: Sniper Assassin 2
date: September 16, 2008

Fun for a while but it drove me crazy that the FPS was so low and that annoying gradiance on the screen. The art and the animation wasn't too good either. It looked like it was made in MS paint...Over all, this lacked finess. Which is what these sniping games are all about. Better luck next time.
